COMPANY HISTORY

We trace SVT's roots back to the early 1970's when our Wiese technology was introduced in order to better handle the many hazardous cargos being increasingly shipped around the world. When local European Governments moved to protect the drinking/fishing waters of their rivers such as the Rhine and Moselle, they looked to us for development of safety systems on loading arms that would prevent spills. Time and again, these systems proved their merit.

Initially, our loading arms were not regarded as the cheapest ones available, but ones that were placed in the most demanding services. Customers entrusted us with applications where only a few parts per million leakage would endanger both human and wildlife. Products such as chlorine, hydrofluoric acid and cryogenic gases could now be safely handled and transferred.

Seeing the need to take this technology worldwide, an aggressive expansion program was undertaken in the 1980's. Offices were opened in key markets. Additional personnel were added to service these markets. As this decade came to an end, the firm had truly arrived as a global leader.

In the early 1990's, much money was placed in our R&D program to simplify the loading arm design while ever increasing its safety. The next generation Model Atlantic was introduced, featuring a far lighter weight and streamlined design. It proved to be more economical to manufacture and lead to a dramatic increase in sales.

The mid 1990's saw the resurgence of the LNG market that had lain dormant for well over a decade. SVT was poised with its new cryogenic arm and swivel design to make a major impact on this market segment. Time and again, LNG companies and their project teams gave the nod to the SVT design.

The market in LNG became so large for us that we found ourselves outgrowing the previous owner's financial resources. A conscious decision was made to search out a new suitable owner. In 2002, SVT became a member of the Publicly Traded GESCO-Group, headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. True to expectations, the production of loading arms has soared under the new ownership.

SVT TODAY

At SVT we are setting new standards in loading technology with marine arm designs that comply with the CFR, the OCIMF specification, ANSI B31.3 and other National and International codes. Our design, manufacturing operations comply with the stringent ISO 9001 quality standard.

The larger SVT model Atlantic marine arms employ three large capacity roller bearings and a separate support structure that minimizes the external loads on the product carrying swivel joints and piping. Long term brinelling of the product swivel raceways is significantly reduced. This streamline design reduces the weight of the arm and the loads on the dock or supporting structure, saving construction costs. The product swivels are all the same resulting in further savings in spare parts inventory.

SVT is the only single source supplier of 16" diameter marine arms for liquefied natural gas (LNG) service that are designed for minimum pressure loss and feature the SVT double ball valve emergency release coupler and quick connect disconnect coupler. From the smallest to the largest LNG carriers in service and on the drawing boards, SVT has a proven engineered design to meet each customer's unique application.

In 1985 Connex SVT, Inc opened an office in Houston to better serve the needs of the North American market. Today this office is responsible for the entire western hemisphere. Hundreds of highly sophisticated arms have been placed into service with major clients in the energy, oil, petrochemical, chemical and liquid gas industries. Other customers include the major engineering and construction companies that build plants all over the world.

We would be pleased to work with you to develop a solution for your bulk fluid transfer needs.
